Vintage Peanuts Character Watches

It's always time for character watches...Watches with Character.

Vintage Peanuts Character Watches

Vintage Charlie Brown, Lucy, Peppermint Patty, Snoopy, & Woodstock Peanuts Character Watches.

"Peanuts" was a syndicated American comic strip written and illustrated by Charles M. Schulz who was regarded as one of the most influential cartoonists of all time. Peanuts ran from 1950 to 2000 and continued in reruns afterward earning over a billion dollars. Merchandising was a large part of that and thankfully for us watches were included.

Here are some of the earliest from the 1960 and 1970's:

Snoopy on blue by Timex with second hand marked United Feature Syndicate Inc. signed Schulz with original vinyl band. Here is smiling Snoopy on a baby blue background with black numbers, a red second hand and his hands to tell the time, always a plus! These smaller kids size watches were made for a child's wrists.
This Snoopy by Timex has him dancing on red background with black numbers, a yellow second hand and his arms to tell the time. Marked United Feature Syndicate Inc. signed Schulz with original vinyl band.
These came in nice plastic presentation boxes with the watch sitting on a doghouse. They came in red and blue with matching vinyl bands. Today, red is harder to find, but there out there.
Later, a slightly larger watch with same design was produced by Determined (who made similar boxes for Charlie Brown, Snoopy & Lucy). Determined marketed them in these red cardboard boxes with a yellow insert and a plastic overlay top and complete with a patch of Snoopy stating "It's Hero Time"!

Here is Charlie Brown, also by Determined marked 1950 United Feature Syndicate Inc. signed Schulz, back marked shock resistant Swiss made. Standing on the pitcher's mound, Charlie Brown is wearing his red baseball cap with a matching red shirt and black pants & shoes on a bright yellow background with black numbers and Charlies hands to tell the time.
a
As mentioned above Determined produced Charlie Brown in the same type of box as Snoopy & Lucy, a simple red cardboard box with a bright yellow insert and a plastic overlay top, complete with a patch of a defeated looking Charlie Brown stating, "I need all the friends I can get".
Lucy had a watch by Timex marked United Feature Syndicate Inc. signed Schulz with original white vinyl band. Smiling Lucy is dressed in a yellow dress and yellow socks with white shoes on a white background with black numbers, a blue second hand and Lucy's hands to tell the time.

Here is Lucy by Determined wearing pink and looking pleased with herself, smiling Lucy is on a white background with black numbers and her arms to tell the time. A larger watch this time then above Timex's. Marked 1952 United Feature Syndicate Inc (the copy right date). signed by Schulz Swiss made with original 70's mod band.

As mentioned above, Lucy by Determined also had a simple red cardboard box with a bright yellow insert and a plastic overlay top. Lucy's was marketed as "Lucy's Watch Wardrobe" and came with 3 different color vinyl bands, red, white, and blue. NO patch for Lucy like Snoopy and Charlie had!

Here is another dancing Snoopy, a later version now, again by Determined on a black background. Marked United Feature Syndicate Inc. Swiss made with red box, yellow insert signed by Schulz all original in the box with a large 70's mod band. Who wouldn't want to get this for the holidays!

They also made it in yellow and orange too (it was the 70's) with orange being rarer.
Here is a closer look at dancing Snoopy by Determined on a yellow background with black numbers and his arms to tell the time. The back marked United Feature 1968, shock resistant, "Snoopy watch" Swiss made, inside marked Intertime Watch Co. one jewel, Swiss made.

and the black background version.

Here we have Snoopy dome (or bubble shaped bezel) by Bradley, marked 1968 United Feature Syndicate Inc. World rights reserved Swiss made signed Schulz with original black plastic band.
Bradley made several of these for Mickey, Snoopy, Space Mouse etc.. This is the same dancing Snoopy on a black background with white numbers and his arms to tell the time. Very hard to find today.
Snoopy by Timex marked Copr 1958 United Feature Syndicate Inc. inside marked Timex signed by Schulz. Again, a dancing Snoopy on a bright red background with only the 3, 6, 9 & 12 numbers in black and the others just marked as black dash marks with a rotating Woodstock for the second hand and Snoopy's hands to tell the time.
Snoopy playing tennis by Timex has a determined looking Snoopy playing tennis, holding a tennis racket and wearing his sun visor on a red background with black numbers outlined in white, a rotating tennis ball for the second hand and his hands to tell the time. Marked Copr 1958 United Feature Syndicate Inc. inside marked Timex zero jewel unadjusted signed by Schulz with original red vinyl band.... rarer then yellow below.

Same watch as above by Timex but in yellow with original yellow vinyl band.
It was the 70's, denim & tennis were in so here you have Snoopy playing tennis by Timex with the blue denim design again with Snoopy playing tennis, holding racket on a denim background with gold numbers, a rotating tennis ball for second hand and his arms to tell the time.
