Vintage Uncategorized 1970's (D) Character Watches

Vintage Daisy-Mae, Dennis the Menace, Dog of Flanders, Donny Osmond, Mr. Dozzy character watches.

I chose to break down my listing of character watches by studio, character or group so of course we have some uncategorized watches that have to be presented, these are some of the more popular from the 1970s  in alpha order.

 Here is Daisy-Mae from the Dogpatch USA amusement park in Arkansas. Lil Abner's Blond Daisy-Mae is posing seductively in a short red blouse with black polka dots on a white background with black 3,6,9 & 12 and red circles for the other numbers along with black hands including a black second hand to tell the time. Marked Dogpatch USA Capp Enterprises, Inc. 1972 and internally marked E. Gluck Trading Company Case Swiss made one jewel unadjusted for this hard to find beauty.

  Dennis the Menace by Timex has blond Dennis in his usual red overalls and blue and white striped shirt with black numbers on a light orange background and Dennis's hands to tell the time. Marked 1974 Henry King Ketcham, signed Ketcham Swiss made.

     Here is a great Dog of Flanders by Q&Q for the Japanese market made by Timex. A Dog of Flanders is an 1872 novel by English author Marie Louise de la Ramée whose pseudonym was "Ouida". Here is boy Nello dressed in a light red vest with blue pants and blue hat and his dog, Patrasche who is pulling a cart in a typical beautiful Antwerp, Belgium background with a green field and a windmill with blue numbers and blue hands including a blue second hand to tell the time. Marked Timex for this hard to find beauty. 

 Here is a great Donny Osmond signed 17 jewel by Osbro Productions mint in the box. Smiling Donny has a great head shot pic centered with his facsimile signature below all on a white background with black numbers and gold hands including a gold second hand to tell the time. Marked 17 jewel Osbro (Osmond Brothers) Productions, Inc. 1975. They used a Buren 17 jewel movement with a case back marked "Jay Ward Productions". These were used for Wards original character watches. I don't believe there was any connection between the two production companies, none that i could ever prove so far but somehow they used a watch Ward had purchased for his character watches. A beautiful and nicely made watch.

Even the silk lining has Donny's signature.

 

Here is Mr. Dozzy and his friends by Q&Q for the Japanese market. Mr. Dozzy is playing with a freesbie wearing his yellow hat and blue shoes all on a pink background with black numbers, black minute marks, black hands and a orange second hand to tell the time. Marked Hot Dog Green Camel at the bottom.
