Vintage Uncategorized 1970's (J - Q) Character Watches

Vintage Jerry Mahoney, Laurel & Hardy, Moppet, Jimmy Pendolix, Pink Panther, Pippi Longstockings, Peter Pan, Possible Possum, Puss & Boots character watches.

I chose to break down my listing of character watches by studio, character or group so of course we have some uncategorized watches that have to be presented, these are some of the more popular from the 1970s  - in alpha order.
for other 1970s,   See 1970's A - B
                               or 1970s C
                               or 1970s D - O
                               or 1970s R - Z

Here is Jerry Mahoney the Paul Winchell puppet by Jerry Layne Enterprises. Jerry is looking like he's about to speak in his blue fringed suit including blue bell bottom pants and black shoes right out of the 1970's on a white background with just dots for the numbers and his hands to tell the time. Marked Jerry Mahoney Original. PW 1971 for this unusual and rare automatic watch.
I believe these were a mail in item produced and sold by Jerry Layne Enterprises in Northridge, California as this simple original box illustrates.
Laurel & Hardy by Dirty Time has their two heads as the hands of the watch with 70's MOD bold purple, red and dark red colors on a white background and just numbers at 3, 6, 9, & 12 along with a black second hand. Marked Swiss made 1970.

Here is Moppet "jump hour" watch by E. Gluck Trading Company. Moppet goes with Skippy on my 1970's P-Z blog and is similar to Raggedy Ann and Andy. Red headed smiling Moppet looks like she's dancing in her usual blue and white summer dress with white pantaloons, red socks and black shoes all while she's holding a huge flower on a white background with the time display to the far left, the hours are white numbers on red background while the minutes are white numbers with black background. Marked Swiss made.

Q&Q produced this Jimmy Pendolix for the Japanese market who i couldn't find any information about. These two penguins, both holding tennis racquets look surprised, one with a Santa hat and one with a hard hat both dressed nicely in a large red bow tie on a blue background with black numbers, white hands and a red second hand to tell the time. Marked EC project Q&Q, Presented by JP Co. LTD. Hard to find today.

Here we have a beautiful Pink Panther by Q&Q for the Japanese market. The Pink Panther is riding a red and sliver rocket (which has a slightly 3d effect as does its flame) holding a net catching stars on an all black background with white numbers, white minute marks, white hands and ad pinkish second hand to tell the time. Marked Japan 6 122973 VN at the bottom. What a great find.

Pink Panther by an unknown maker for United Artists has the Panther looking smug with a blue hat and long cigarette holder on a light green background with black numbers. I've also seen the same on a white background. Marked Swiss made MCMLXIV United Artists, Geoffrey DFE.

In 1979, Q&Q of Japan, for the Japanese market produced this Pink Panther with a black top hat trimmed in red, a purple bow tie and a red walking stick on a white background with red numbers, red minute marks, black hands and a red second hand to tell the time. Marked Q&Q 1979, UAC Geoffrey, All rights reserved.

Pippi Longstockings by unknown maker for G.G. Communications (film distributor). Here is the ever smiling red headed Pippi dressed in a green dress with two front pockets and with her monkey friend Mr. Nilsson whose head moves to tick off the seconds all on a white background, black numbers and her arms to tell the time. Marked 1974 Swiss made. An amazing watch and a scarce find today.

Peter Pan by Rouan has Peter Pan dressed in his regular green tights and tunic with matching green hat topped with a red feather on a white background with black numbers and red hands as Peter rotates as the second hand to tell the time as Rouan did with several watches at the time (Woody Wood Pecker & Archie). Marked De Luce M.T.C. Swiss movt, Japan dial.
Possible Possum & Macon Mouse for Terry Toons from the Deputy Dawg cartoons. Here is smiling Possible Possum dressed in his usual red hat and red pants with shoulder strap to hold them standing with his friend Macon Mouse who is red along with his beaver skin hat on a mostly white background with yellow along the edges, black numbers and black minute marks along with black hands and a red second had to tell the time. Marked Terry Toons Swiss Made for this hard to find beauty.
Puss & Boots Moggy has Boots in his swash buckling outfit waving an old musket in one hand and holding a sword in the other on a white background. The sword moves up and down to tick off the seconds with black numbers, black minute marks and black hands with white on the inside to tell the time. Swiss made.
